Thoraco-abdominal Aortic Repair
Treatment for thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAAs) can include open surgical repair, endovascular debranching aortic repair, or a hybrid of the two:
Open surgical repair
The gold standard treatment for TAAAs, this procedure involves replacing the diseased section of the aorta with a synthetic graft. The surgeon makes an incision in the chest and abdomen. The procedure aims to replace as much of the diseased aorta as possible while minimizing risk to the spinal cord and other organs.
Endovascular debranching aortic repair
A minimally invasive procedure that involves cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and endovascular therapy. It offers faster recovery and fewer complications than open surgical repair.
Hybrid Repair
A combination of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) and open repair.
